I have seen a few weddings in my day and with that I have seen the stress of the day really effect my couples hours before the wedding. To help ease the wedding day , I have put together a list of things for every bride to remember on her wedding day. Wedding Planning can be extremely stressful leading up to the big day. Taking the time to breathe and plan things out will help you stay calm and stress free on your wedding day. Here are my top 10 tips for your wedding day morning.
1.) Take the time to plan a time line and allow for some buffering in the timeline.
Having a schedule for your wedding day is extremely important it not only helps to make the day run smoothly , but it helps to keep everything and everyone in order. The best way to put together a time line especially for the morning is figure out where the next place you will need to be , so if you are planning a first look , or where the ceremony will be. Look up driving time between those locations as well.
Things to consider :
What time do you want to wake up. It's always good to get a good nights rest.
What time do you want to eat breakfast? Having a good meal will help with the day's events as it will be a few hours before you'll eat again. ( another side tip pack some small snacks to carry with you or with your photographer, in case you need a little pick me up )
Time to be alone and reflect.
Buffer time in between each bit part of the morning.
2.) Eat Breakfast and Drink Plenty of Water.
To be honest you probably wont be very hungry on your wedding day with all of the excitement going on, but it's important to get a good break fast before the days events and to drink plenty of water through out the day. If your getting married in the summer and outside it will hot and staying hydrated is a big task to do , but it's soo important. You don't have to have a huge breakfast, just something light and yummy, fresh fruit , some yogurt , a muffin. I always recommend to my clients to purchase a cute water bottle for the big day and keep it with them at all times. Trust me you just want it at some point . When your hydrated on your big day, you skin will glow, you'll be fresh and ready to party the day away. Breakfast , snacks and water will help you be energized for this very exciting yet draining day ahead of you.
3.) Make sure to share and lay out all the details with your photographer.
Some photographers like my self will be present during while you are getting ready for your big day. it's always helpful to lay out all of your details, this helps the photographer capture all the details, your dress, your shoes, garters, wedding jewelry etc. Plus having every thing in place will help when the time comes to get dressed. You'll have everything out and ready to go and there's no chance that you will forget anything.
Details to have lay out-
Bridesmaids Shoes & Dresses
Any other special details you want to be captured before the wedding.
4.) Put some music on.
Music sets the ton for everything. In the morning you'll want to listen to your favorite music, love songs. Having the music will help you get pumped up for your wedding day, Beside's who doesn't love to sing along to their favorite songs? Take a few minutes to let loose dance around the room and sing your heart out.
5.) Have your Bridesmaids Get Ready before you do.
When scheduling hair and makeup and who's going to get dressed first, Your bridesmaid's should have their hair and makeup done first and get dressed as you are getting your hair and make up done. Let your bridesmaids get up earlier that way you can start the day with a little bit of relaxing while they are getting ready. When it's your turn to get ready, I recommend getting your hair done first before you start with your make up. You hair is easier to spruce up when needed then your makeup is. Saving your make up for last will help keep it fresh for the festivities. Speaking of your getting ready room, Make sure your room is clean and picked up while your photographer is photographing all the days events. Make sure your room has amazing natural light , lighting is everything when it comes to your photographs. You will also want the best lighting for your makeup and most importantly your photos.
6.) Have your family and bridesmaids help pack everything up.
Since your bridesmaids will be dressed first they will have plenty of time to clean up and gather your items for you that you might need throughout the day. Having an emergency kit put together for your big day is very hand, You'll be ready for anything unexpected that pops up.
Things to Include in your Emergency Kit-
Makeup Setting Spray
Clear Nail Polish
Mini Sewing Kit
Water Bottle & Snacks
Deodorant & Body Spray
7.) Indulge in your favorite drink.
Take a minute to enjoy and indulge in your favorite drink, a cocktail or a mimosa. If an alcoholic beverage is not you thing, indulge in what ever is your favorite drink. This is also a good time to do a little toast and thank everyone in the room.
8.) This is a tough one, But dedicate a good amount of time to photos.
Photo's are believe it or not a big part of your day. From start to finish. While I am taking candid photos of you and bridesmaids getting ready along with all of your details, It's extremely important to have at least an hour dedicated to take your bridal portraits as well as photo's with just your bridal part and your immediately family if they are ready and available. It's always easier to take your bridal portraits right after you are finished getting ready. It's so important to take your time and get all of the images on your shot list. Taking these and many other images before the festivities will make less of a rush through out the day with all of the other photo's you will be taking. Taking as many photo's as a you can before the ceremony not only helps ease your time line, it helps your guest as well, this way we don't have to keep them waiting after the ceremony while we try to squeeze in all of your photo's in a very limited time frame.
9.) Enjoy this time with your girls.
This is your last time a single lady, so why not enjoy this time with your bridesmaids? Laugh, Cry and spend some quality time with them. Sing along to your favorite songs, dance to some jams in the car along the way to the ceremony, Tell stories of fun times you've all had together. Just soak up all the time you have to together.
10.) Spend some time alone, Clear your head, gather your thoughts, Just breathe.
Your wedding day is going to be one of the biggest day of your life. It's also going to be unfortunately the most exhausting day. I always recommend to my clients to take a few minutes before the ceremony to just have some alone time, gather your thoughts, clear your head and just take a deep breathe. The rest of your day is going to be jam packed with so much socializing and dancing and fun, You'll want just a minute to your self. Trust me. This is also a good time to go over your vow's if you have written your own , say a little prayer if you want and just look at your surroundings.
We'll that's all the tips I have for you . These are so every essential to your wedding day. Weddings are stressful, but yours doesn't have to be. This tips will help you have a little bit of a stress free morning and really enjoy the day you've waited for.
